Fashion show, pajama party and shopping deals top Holland’s Girlfriends Weekend

HOLLAND, MI — If spring cleaning emptied your closet then it’s time to refresh your wardrobe at your favorite Downtown Holland boutiques during Girlfriends Weekend.

The annual shop-til-you-drop event has expanded beyond its signature swag bags, coupon books and gift giveaways into a three-day extravaganza, Friday, March 7- Sunday, March 9.

“Since 2009, our merchants have been welcoming hundreds of women to Downtown Holland each March for Girlfriends Weekend,” said Kara de Alvare, Downtown Holland Marketing Coordinator.

“For so many moms, aunts, sisters, daughters, and friends, Girlfriends Weekend provides a very rare opportunity for them to finally relax, reconnect, and recharge…while having the time of their lives together. We’re so honored to be able to provide that opportunity to busy women everywhere right here in Downtown Holland.”

Starting 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, participants can check in at Courtyard Marriott with a complimentary mimosa and swag bags − some lucky winners will get a gift card to a restaurant or shop to kick off the weekend.

Friday also kicks off a weekend of deals and in-store activities that will continue until Sunday.

From 8-10 p.m. drink specials and live entertainment will be the highlight of Friday Night Light pub crawl.

Drink specials and cash bars will be available at Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant, the Curragh Irish Pub, Hops at 84 East, New Holland Brewing, and Waverly Stone.

Saturday morning will start with a brunch and fashion show 9 a.m. at Haworth Hotel and Conference Center.

Participants can also book experiences like a cake decorating competition at Cakabakery or a craft cocktail classes at Boatwerks and New Holland Brewing.

Saturday night will end with slumber party vibes with a Girlfriends’ Pajama Party. The silkiest pajamas and fuzziest slippers are recommended for a night of dance hits, cash bar, party favors and free photo booth.

Advance registration for Girlfriends Weekend is required online at girlfriendsweekend.org. The website includes a full itinerary as well as ticket prices for individual experiences.

While overnight accommodations are not included in the Girlfriends Weekend registration price, accommodations are available in Downtown Holland within walking distance to all activities at the Courtyard Marriott, the Haworth Hotel, and Tulyp Hotel.
